Basics:
• Always store your bottles laying down. You want the wine to touch the cork at all times, otherwise you run the risk of the cork cracking, drying out and potentially oxidizing
• Never store your wine near something that can heat up…like your stove. This is a common place we see wine placed and is a sure way to turn wine into vinegar. If wine reaches 78 degrees or higher it can cook. This is also why you never leave wine in a hot car.
• The Optimal wine storage temperature is 55 degrees while humidity is 50-70%
Ways to Store:
• Wine Cellar: I mean, who doesn’t want their own cellar? A wine cellar can really be built anywhere in your home…a basement, under the stairs, a coat closet, a wine wall. If you don’t have a room that is dry and cool, then you will need to temper control it with one of our Cooling Units.
• Wine Cave: What is a wine cave you ask? A wine fridge that maintains temperature (Mid 50’s) and humidity (between 50-70%). • Wine Fridges: A Wine Fridge is a great solution for collectors that are not looking to store their wine for an extended period of time…a few years maybe. A fridge maintains temperature but not humidity and comes in various sizes and colors. They’re often quite easy to operate as well
– Dual zone wine refrigeration is a system that allows wine to be stored in two separate temperature zones. This is perfect if you want the option to store both reds and whites.
– Under the Counter fridges are made for just that. They come in a handful of sizes that are fairly standard to any built in that you will have or that a contractor will put in.
